China's national weather agency warns of heavy rainfall
According to the National Meteorological Center, heavy rain and storms are forecast for parts of Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Taiwan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Chongqing, Sichuan, Hubei, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, Hebei, and Beijing during the 24-hour period.
The center noted that areas in Guangdong and Fujian may face particularly intense downpours, with precipitation levels potentially reaching up to 300 millimeters.
Some regions are expected to experience brief but severe rainfall, with hourly rates exceeding 80 millimeters, along with thunderstorms and strong winds.
Authorities have been advised to take proactive steps to mitigate the impact of the rainstorms, including implementing drainage measures in urban areas and protecting farmlands.
China’s weather warning system includes four alert levels, with red being the most severe, followed by orange, yellow, and blue.
