India’s Modi, China’s Foreign Minister Reaffirm Push for Stronger Ties
(MENAFN) Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a crucial meeting on Tuesday with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who also serves on the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and directs the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs office.
Modi underscored the longstanding historical bond between the two countries, describing India and China as ancient civilizations with a history of friendly exchanges. He pointed to the Kazan summit last October as a pivotal moment that marked significant progress in enhancing and advancing bilateral relations.

Commemorating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and China, he urged both nations to adopt a long-term strategic outlook. Modi linked the emergence of the Asian century to the depth of India-China collaboration, highlighting the critical role of joint action in advancing global development and the broader welfare of humanity. He also voiced his eagerness to attend the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin.
Wang Yi welcomed Modi’s planned participation, recalling the significant consensus achieved during the Kazan meeting, which he said had set bilateral ties on a renewed path of progress and development.
Framing his visit as groundwork for future high-level engagement, Wang noted that both countries had agreed to revive dialogue mechanisms across various sectors, strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation, defend multilateralism, collaborate on global challenges, and jointly oppose unilateral coercion.
